Kelly Hand spent a decade shaping luxury homes in London before relocating to Dubai to launch her own firm, West One.
Refining luxury in London
Hand trained as an architect and contributed to some of the U.K.’s most exclusive residential projects. Her early work took her through prime Central London and Surrey, where she learned that high-end design required more than aesthetics—it demanded precision, execution, and an understanding of wealthy clients’ expectations.
She collaborated with firms like Candy & Candy and Finchatton, where her focus on details earned her a reputation. The exactness of a junction, the finish of a surface, and the seamless coordination needed to turn ambitious designs into reality became her signature.

When many of her London clients began expanding their property portfolios into the Middle East, they sought the same level of service abroad. Hand recognized an opportunity—a gap in the market for a company that could deliver both exceptional design and flawless execution. She and her husband, Phil Hand, established West One in Dubai.
A single firm for design and construction
West One was created to bridge the divide between design studios and construction companies. Hand envisioned a firm that could manage architecture, interior design, engineering, and construction under one roof. The aim was to preserve the original design intent from concept to completion, eliminating the disconnect between client visions and builder outcomes.
The company now focuses on high-end private residences in Dubai’s most sought-after neighborhoods—Jumeirah Golf Estates, Palm Jumeirah, Al Barari, Polo Homes, and Emirates Hills. Projects include major renovations and new-build villas, typically spanning 2,000 to 5,000 square meters.
Hand’s method prioritizes buildability and technical precision. She argues that the best projects succeed when design ambition aligns with construction expertise. This principle led her to create West One Joinery, a division that ensures tighter quality control and execution.

The firm’s work has earned industry recognition, including a “Best in Design Innovation” award for projects that balance bold design with intelligent planning and flawless execution.
For Hand, luxury extends beyond appearance. It encompasses how a space is conceived, how it functions, and how it’s delivered—with the client’s confidence preserved at every stage. “I’ve always been as passionate about the ‘how’ as I am the ‘why,’” she says. “That belief has shaped my career and continues to guide West One.”
The firm’s current workload includes new builds and renovations, maintaining the same standards of craftsmanship she refined in London. In luxury residential design, the elements most people overlook often define the difference.
