Foraged Autumn Floral Arrangement – French Country Cottage

Foraged Autumn Floral Arrangement – French Country Cottage

Posted on 12/09/2022 by

Foraged autumn floral decor is a favorite. I love to decorate with seasonal and dried flowers anytime of year but in autumn- those foraged floral arrangements just seem to fit perfectly. Whether wandering the garden to clip dried flowers and greens or scavenging through your dried florals through the year – the beauty of a foraged arrangement is that no two are alike and there are so many possibilities.

Foraged

Foraged. The word itself just sounds so lovely doesn’t it? A little wander in the yard or garden with a basket in hand. Clipping what speaks to you. And then gathering all the pieces up and mixing and mingling them together to create something natural and beautiful. So perfect.

I love foraged arrangements so much for several reasons. They are arrangements that are always changing and always different depending on what is blooming or in season. They are inexpensive- just shopping the yard. And they are seasonally beautiful.

This & That

For today’s arrangement- I simply shopped the yard and shopped the dried flowers I have on hand and then just started playing. I didn’t know what it would look like when it was finished but I am in love with how it came together. Here is what I used:

  • Dried Sunflowers
  • Dried Hops
  • Dried Roses
  • Strawflowers (brought home from Paris)
  • Yarrow from the garden
  • Queen Anne’s lace- from gathering locally
  • Hollyhocks -dried from the garden
  • Fern – gathered from the backyard

Vintage Cement Urn

Remember that vintage set of urns, pedestals and planters that I found on marketplace? I brought one of them inside to create an arrangement for the coffee table. One of the best things about creating a dried flower arrangement is that you don’t have to worry about containers that don’t hold water.

I love the elegance and charming patina this one has. So so beautiful.

Since it is a few feet tall when on the pedestal- I simply took the urn off to place on the coffee table for a centerpiece.

Simple & Sweet

I kept it simple and sweet- with some rosy tones mingling with the dried bits. And a little wild and wonky- my favorite is an arrangement with some personality. So the long strands of hops and rambling elements brought that.
